Rodina pocházela z kantonu Grisons ve Švýcarsku, roku 1627 se prestehovala do Prahy kvuli príležitostem, které skýtala tricetiletá válka. Otec Jan Antonín Losy starší (zemrel 1682) sloužil jako dvorní kanclér, poté se stal inspektorem nad vinnými, pivními a solnými duchody armády. Matka Anna Constancia zemrela 1690 a Jan Antonín Losy mladší na její pocest zkomponoval tombeau zachované v traskripci pro kytaru. Roku 1648 byl Jan Antonín Losy starší povýšen do hodnosti baroneta a získal i mnohé majetky.
