Most of the time, the Stanislaus River at Knights Ferry is a calmly flowing river, but during the Great Flood of 1862, it not only destroyed the entire town, but also carried rocks from the site of an ancient Yokut Village downstream.

The rocks ended up near a small rapid in a big pile. At some of them, we can still clearly see human-made grinding holes. However, they are now pointing in many different directions.

The rocks can be found near the trailhead of the Russian Rapid Trail.
