Knights Ferry is a historical district, full of Gold Rush history. The most prominent building contributing to the district is the Knights Ferry Bridge, at 330 feet length the longest covered bridge west of the Mississippi.

The marker, erected by the Native Daughters of the Golden West reads:

COVERED BRIDGE

BUILT IN 1864 TO REPLACE THE ORIGINAL
BRIDGE WASHED AWAY BY THE FLOOD OF 1862.
FASTENED TOGETHER WITH LOCUST PINS.
A TOLL BRIDGE UNTIL PURCHASED BY
STANISLAUS COUNTY IN 1885.
