Johannes von Nepomuk gilt als Schutzpatron von Böhmen, Bayern, Salzburg, Seckau, Correggio, Prag, Banat und Santander, der Beichtväter, Priester, Schiffer, Flößer und Müller, des Beichtgeheimnisses, für Verschwiegenheit, gegen Wassergefahren, der Brücken.
