A group of mercenaries, headed by a man called Krivas, rob a bank dressed as soldiers and using machine guns. They escape using a light aircraft and parachute out under cloud cover. The robbery was intended to impress crime boss Simon Sinclair. They give the robbery proceeds to Sinclair in exchange for a contract for a larger job.

Bodie, whilst at the airport, recognised one of the gang as Benny. Bodie figures that Benny won’t resist the temptation to see his wife and child whilst he is England, and stakes out the flat with Doyle. True to form Benny arrives and they arrest him. Cowley threatens Benny with deportation to Angola unless he cooperates, which he does, giving Cowley Sinclair’s name.

Cowley gives Bodie and Doyle unpaid leave to go and kidnap Sinclair’s daughter. They use the kidnap to get Sinclair to tell them where the gang will strike next. Unfortunately Cowley, Doyle and Bodie are just too late to catch the gang in the act, but are able to follow the gang’s van. They find the van abandoned with the gang fled on motorbikes. They follow on foot and quickly find the bikes abandoned. After much creeping about Cowley allows Bodie and Doyle to go on ahead. Unfortunately the gang are still in the area and close in on Cowley. Cowley signals for help by setting fire to a motorbike, which brings Bodie and Doyle to the rescue.
