This old bell has been salvaged and put on display at the Ione City Park on the left bank of the Pend Oreille River.

The bell was the town's fire warning system 105 years ago. They may or may not have had a fire hall at that time, so the bell could have hung in a fire hall, a town hall or even a town square. Today it rests upon a concrete plinth covered with large flagstones, clinging to the remainder of its yoke. The steel bell was cast by the C.S. Bell Company of Hillsboro, Ohio. Attached to the plinth is a bronze plaque briefly describing who had a hand in its coming to be here, which one may read below.
