The Dade County Courthouse Greenfield Missouri was built as a WPA project.

The earlier Dade County Courthouse had for many years been considered to be in deplorable condition, however the county is unable to get a bond issue passed to get a new courthouse built. During the Great Depression the county submitted application to Work Progress Administration and to their surprise they were approved for more than they were expecting. They were approved for $110,100 in July 1934. Construction began soon thereafter using a plan from the architectural firm of Fred C. Bonsack and Harvey J. Pearce, from St. Louis. The cornerstone was laid March 29, 1935. In the county moved into offices in late 1935. A formal acceptance date was January 18, 1936. The three-story building, 70 by 70 feet, has the courtroom, which seats 250, on the third floor. The building is sheathed in Carthage stone.
The building is in very good condition and continues to serve the county's needs.
