This memorial is one of two which have been placed on the front lawn of the Pend Oreille Courthouse in Newport.

This is a simple bronze plaque affixed to a large boulder which is placed in the centre of the western half of the front courthouse lawn. It was likely placed very shortly after the end of The Great War. The courthouse itself was constructed during the war, being completed in 1915.
