We suspect that this plaque was presented by the Masons on October 25, 1997, not for the construction of the hospital as a whole, but to commemorate this addition to the hospital. The building appears to have been build in several stages over the decades, which is the norm for medical facilities most everywhere.

The Newport Hospital and Health Services Foundation (NHHS), established in 2008, is a nonprofit organization which seeks to generate the funding required to operate this hospital. The NHHS Foundation is directed by the hospital.

NHHS employs six primary care practice physicians, six health care affiliates, two Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists and a General Surgeon. We offer complete obstetrical care including epidural anesthesia and Cesarean deliveries in a private, family setting.

Outpatient services are comprised of full service diagnostic imaging (radiology), laboratory, pathology and licensed physical and restorative therapy. NHHS also offers short stay and same day surgical services and a fully staffed general medical acute care unit.

Directed by the hospital, in cooperation with community leaders who give generously of their time and personal resources, the NHHS Foundation gains financial support for the mission of the District. The Foundation exists to improve and enhance the District’s delivery of high quality healthcare through the successful cultivation of philanthropic support and volunteer leadership, as well as the stewardship of charitable gifts and fundraising events.

In support of the District’s mission, the Foundation raises money for needed healthcare equipment, supplies, healthcare delivery, and overall community health education. Fundraising efforts currently benefit the Healthy Kids Snack Bag program.
