Svatí Konstantin (Cyril) a Metodej, oznacováni nekdy jednoduše jako bratri ze Solune, jsou známí jako Apoštolové Slovanu nebo také Slovanští verozvestové. V rámci své misie na Velké Morave vytvorili písmo hlaholici a prosadili staroslovenštinu jako bohoslužebný jazyk.

Svatý Konstantin (Konstantinos), zvaný Filosof (827 v Soluni – 14. února 869 v Ríme), mladší z obou bratru, byl profesorem filosofie v Konstantinopoli, roku 855 vstoupil do kláštera. Znovu vstoupil do kláštera pred svou smrtí v Ríme, kde prijal reholní jméno Cyril (Kyrillos; latinsky Cyrillus), pod nímž je známejší.

Svatý Metodej (Methodios; latinsky Methodius) (813 v Soluni – 6. dubna 885 na Morave), krestním jménem Michal, starší bratr Konstantina, byl zpocátku byzantským státním úredníkem, pozdeji mnichem a prijal jméno Metodej, diakonem a nakonec prvním moravsko-panonským arcibiskupem

Saints Constantine (Cyril) and Methodius, sometimes known simply as brothers from Thessaloniki, are known as the Apostles of the Slavs or also Slavic missionaries. As part of its mission to Great Moravia created the Glagolitic script font and enforce Slavonic liturgical language like.

Saints Constantine (Konstantinos), called the Philosopher (827 Thessaloniki - FEBRUARY 14 869 in Rome), the younger of the two brothers, was a professor of philosophy at Constantinople, the year 855 he entered the monastery. Again he entered the monastery before his death in Rome, where he received the monastic name Cyril (Kyrillos, Latin Cyrillus), under which it is familiar.

St. Methodius (Methodios, Latin Methodius) (813 Thessaloniki - April 6 885 Moravia), first name Michal, older brother Constantine, was initially Byzantine state official, later a monk and took the name Methodius, deacon, and finally the first Moravian Archbishop.
