The Newport Cemetery is on the southwest corner of the City of Newport, at the intersection of 7th Street and Old Schoolhouse Lane.

The gate is to be found essentially at that intersection. This memorial, to veterans of all wars, is to be found just inside the gate beside the roadway. It consists of three low stone planters surrounding a flagpole and a rounded stone plinth with an angled top and a polished granite flagstone atop with a bronze plaque mounted on its face. The plaque reads:
