The Monument of The Minesweepers, which opened July 7, 1952, commemorates the sacrifice of the 500 French and hundreds of Italians, Poles and Germans who were killed and maimed by detecting thousands of mines which the Germans had filled the Ballon d 'Alsace during the 2nd World War. This work was designed by Messrs Deschler, architect, and River, sculptor, sculpture grand prize Biennial in Brussels.
Le Monument des Démineurs, inauguré le 7 juillet 1952, rappelle le sacrifice des 500 Français et des centaines d'Italiens, de Polonais et d'Allemands qui furent tués et estropiés en détectant les milliers de mines dont les Allemands avaient truffé le Ballon d'Alsace pendant la 2ème Guerre Mondiale. Cette oeuvre a été conçue par Messieurs Deschler, architecte, et Rivière, sculpteur, grand prix de la biennale de sculpture à Bruxelles.
