The Carousel Pavilion showcases a wooden hand-carved carousel, built by Armitage-Herschell in New York in 1892.

It has been restored to full working order after being found in the Victorian gold-mining town of Castlemaine.
The carousel has 36 horses and 2 chariots. Twenty four of the horses are original and took over 300 man hours each to restore. The remaining twelve horses were built to be as similar to the originals as possible, using real coach wood imported from the USA. The project took over 2 years to complete.
The pavilion also houses an 1890 Herschell-Spillman steam engine from New York, which originally drove the Carousel until 1920.
The 1898 Gavioli band organ from Paris that still plays carnival-style music at the pavilion.

Entry to the pavilion is free, but riding the carousel costs between $4 (children) and $4.50 (adults).
