The Nation Guard Armory was constructed in 1954-1955. There are three buildings here. The main complex is a large circular portion with a dome shaped roof. Attached to it is a rectangular office building. There are two vehicle storage and maintenenace buildings with wave pattern roofs. The addition of this site to the NRHP was proposed in 2007. It was selected for inclusion because of its association with local and national history and for its architecture significant to the time period. I am not sure as to when the National Guard quit using the building. It was transfered over to the city of Lawton for public use on July 18th, 2011.
