This Czechoslovak post stamp issued in 1988, from series devoted to contemporary Prague' architecture, depicts Pyramida Hotel, originally built as Trade Union' Central House of Recreation (Ustrední dum rekreace ROH).
The brutalist building, work of architects Miloslav and Zdenka Cajthaml (married couple), was constructed in 1980-1987 for Czechoslovak Trade Union. Despite for somebody "ugly" exterior typical for brutalist architecture style, is this building acclaimed by architecture experts and offers luxury and artistically valuable interiors with works of many leading artists. Nowadays, after reconstruction, it is one of biggest hotels in Prague, favourable located couple hundred meters from Prague Castle.
