Jackson Lake is the largest lake in the Grand Tetons. The impressive and famous Grand Tetons mountain range stretches along the western shore of the lake.
Jackson Lake is a natural glacial lake, carved in the last ice age. But it got somewhat enlarged by Jackson Lake Dam, which raised the lake's level by 33 feet from a total depth of 405 feet to 438 feet.
There are 15 islands in the lake.
The elevation of 6,772 ft makes this a true alpine lake.
