The power plant was built in 1998 near a residential zone in the east of Münchenstein. It produces about 4 mio. KWh energy per year, that is about the use of 1,000 households.
The run-of-the-river plant uses a bevel gear bulb turbine with a diameter of 1.7 meters with a speed of 235 rotations per minute. The plant does not only produce energy, but does also control the flow of a medieval canal that branches off the river here. It was carefully designed in the aspect of ecology and has several ecological certificates.
