The Reformed Church of Gieten is a three-sided closed hall church in the Drenthe location casting, which was rebuilt in the mid 19th century.
Originally there was in Gieten a medieval church, which was dedicated to Mary.
This church was built in the 17th century, because of serious damage, rebuilt. The tower of this church was raised in 1804, but was eventually rebuilt in 1864.
Fifteen years earlier, in 1849, the nave of the church was completely renovated.
The two bells in the church tower dating from the 16th century. One of these bells were cast in 1520 by Wolter Schonenborch. To the monumental inventory include the 17th-century pulpit, two 18th century lecture hall, a wrought iron baptismal font, the organ that was made in 1894 by the Leeuwarden organ builders L. van Dam and Sons and the rouwkas 1742 for Nicholas Harmen van Echten, drost of Drenthe, inhabitant of the manor Entinge in Bonnen near Gieten.
