The decoration of British Telecom street side junction boxes is part of an initiative by Southwark Council in the Borough and Bankside areas. Funding from Borough & Bankside Community Council's "Cleaner Greener Safer" scheme is being used to make these boxes more attractive and to try and deter graffiti and fly posters.
The box has a similar image on both the front and rear long sides. It is of an old film projector set between tied-back red curtains and what appears to be a smokey atmosphere behind the projector. On one of the ends, the curtains seem to be slightly parted with a pair of eyes peering through.
