Christ Church is built in the Victorian Gothic Revival style of locally quarried limstone walls and a shingle roof. The foundation stone was laid on 10 September 1892 and consecrated on 11th April 1893.
The bell tower was constructed in 1938 and the peal of six bells were installed in 1988, these came from the church of St Paul's, Canonbury, London. The largest bell weighs 390kg, and so the tower needed to be strengthened with a steel frame when the bells were installed.
