In 1976 the local Boy Scout Council for Saline County erected this monument on the East side of the County courthouse grounds in downtown Benton, AR. monument is made of granite carved in the shape of the state of Arkansas with a pewter plaque on it representing Boy Scouts from several eras since the beginning of scouting around the turn-of-the-century.
The plaque reads as follows:

[Boy Scouts at attention]
"Scouting will deliver to a nation a great gift, a new generation of prepared, young citizens -- physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight -- young people who are growing through their scouting experience, learning the lessons of responsible citizenship, and priding themselves on the great accomplishments of their country. They look to the future to take their part in furthering human progress and understanding."
Beneath the plaque, e=the following words are engraved:
