On this site in 1964, Tim Horton and Ron Joyce opened a single coffee shop. 50 years later, it has grown into one of Canada's largest and most-recognizable brands. There are over 3,600 Tim Hortons restaurants in Canada, nearly 900 in the United States, and over 50 in other parts of the world.

Tim Hortons store #1, located on Ottawa Street North in Hamilton, Ontario, has continued to serve customers since being opened in 1964. In celebration of the companies 50th anniversary, that store was recently leveled and replaced with a new, 2-story store combined with a museum dedicated to the Tim Horton’s franchise. Outside the store there is a large statue of Tim Horton, one of the founders of the chain. A replicate of the original store sign, as well a plaque, are located on the main floor of the current building. Both had been located on the outside of the previous building.

On the second floor, over half of the floor space is dedicated to displays (the other half is for guest seating). The most prominent feature is the full-sized 60s-era store front replica. Many older locations retained this style for several decades. They certainly did not retain the prices - 35 to 60 cents for a coffee!

A number of smaller displays are set up to show various Tim Hortons items throughout the various decades. Various other “pop culture” items recognizable for the specific time frame are also included; for example. These will possibly be replaced with additional Tim Hortons -specific items as they become available.
