The decoration of British Telecom street side junction boxes is part of an initiative by Southwark Council in the Borough and Bankside areas. Funding from Borough & Bankside Community Council's "Cleaner Greener Safer" scheme is being used to make these boxes more attractive and to try and deter graffiti and fly posters.
The pictures on the long sides of the box show the Trinity Square Church from the north east side (columns) and south west sides. It is now the Henry Wood Hall. The image, of a man, on one of the ends, is a statue within the grounds of the church.
