Here is the legend of St. Catherine
"Coming from a royal family of Alexandria, would Jesus appeared to him on the day of his baptism and would have chosen a wife (mystical marriage).
She would have supported a debate with 50 philosophers of Alexandria gathered by Emperor Maximin in defense of the traditional gods. And Catherine calls the religion of Jesus. She is so beautiful and so eloquent that philosophers admit defeat, they will be burned alive. Then the emperor's marriage proposal, but she refused with scorn because of her mystical marriage. She is condemned to execution of the spiked wheel. But it miraculously breeze. She died decapitated. It was in 307 AD. »
This explains the symbols of his figurative: the wheel on the side, the sword of decapitation and the palm of martyrdom.
