The statue was sculpted by Jan van der Furth in 1674–1676.
Augustine of Hippo (Aurelius Augustinus Hipponensis; 13 November 354 – 28 August 430), also known as Saint Augustine or Saint Austin, was an early Christian theologian and philosopher whose writings influenced the development of Western Christianity and Western philosophy. The full name of the church is "chrám Zvestování Panny Marie a svatého Tomáše apoštola" (The church of the Annunciation of Virgin Mary and the St. Thomas the Apostle).
