Located in a small park in downtown Montague is this Sequoiadendron giganteum with a small plaque located at its base that reads:

THIS SEQUOIA GIGANTEA TREE
WAS DONATED TO THE CITY OF MONTAGUE
FOR A LIVING CHRISTMAS TREE BY
MAL AND KAY BRSITER.
IT WAS MOVED FROM THEIR HOME
TO ITS PRESENT SITE IN 1967
WHEN IT WAS 16 FEET TALL.
THE MOVE WAS MADE POSSIBLE
WITH THE HELP OF THE
SHASTA VALLEY GARDEN CLUB,
SCHMIDLIN'S NURSERY,
ARCATA LUMBER SERVICES,
CITY OF MONTAGUE AND VARIOUS INDIVIDUALS.

There is another Sequoiadendron giganteum located in the city of Yreka, about six miles west of Montague and can be visited here.
