The AULL HOUSES, E. side of the Strand, of considerable interest architecturally, are survivors of the fire of 1824. Of these, Nos. 49 – 51, built about 1750, our frame with plush clapboards; Nos. 53 – 55, built 25 years later, are of brick with stone built course.- Delaware - A Guide to the First State, New Castle section, 1938, pg. 252.

The houses are much as described in the Guide. Both houses continue to serve as private residences.
