Serenity Park was officially opened to the public on May 15th 2011 by the Governor General Dame Pearlette Louisy and Minister of local government Richard Frederick and also the Prime Minister, Honourable Stephenson King.
The name of the park was submitted by students of the R.C. Boys Infant School which was winner of a competition amongst the schools in the Castries basin.
The park was designed and built by local professionals, especially young professionals who are just coming up in the architectural business, engineering, electrical and other professions. (

Richard Frederick (born 6 August 1965) is a Saint Lucian lawyer and politician who was Minister for Physical Planning, Housing, Urban Renewal and Local Government.
Frederick was forced into resignation as cabinet minister in September, 2011, following a Wikileak-related scandal regarding the withdrawal by the U.S. State Department of his diplomatic visa for entry in the United States. If there exist reports of Frederick's considerable wealth and attacks regarding the acquisition of his assets, none are proven or have been found with merit yet.
Himself reelected in his constituency in the 2011 general elections, his party suffered defeat. On 17 August 2014, Frederick was expelled from the United Workers Party. (
