Castries City Hall houses the City Council offices and is located across the street from Constitution Park where is erected the statue of Sir John George Melvin Compton, the first Saint Lucia Prime Minister and the statue of Charles Eugène Gabriel de La Croix, marquis de Castries who gave his name to the city.
Castries is the capital and largest city of Saint Lucia, a country in the Caribbean. It is a city rich in history and culture. From its early status as a refuge for sailors particularly the English and French military, as well as a major port for the exportation of charcoal, the city has grown into ultra-modern centre for business and government. Tourism and retail is now the major commercial activity in the city with an expanded port capable of holding up to 5 large cruise ships simultaneously.
