Located just off of US 17 on the south bound ramp to US 21, two markers sit on the side of the road in a curve. Fairfield Plantation and Gardens Corner.

Fairfield Plantation
This 756-acre plantation was established before the American Revolution by planter Benjamin Garden (1736-1789), for whom Gardens Corner was later named. Garden was also an avid sportsman, well known in the lowcountry of raising and racing thoroughbred horses. He served in the Lower Granville County Regiment of the S.C. Militia as early as 1756.
Benjamin Garden represented Prince William’s Parish in the 1st and 2nd Provincial Congress 1775-76 and the 1st General Assembly in 1776. He was Lt. Col. Of the Lower Granville County Regiment ca. 1775-78, then colonel 1778-80. Captured and paroled when the British took Charleston in 1780. Garden later gave aid to the Loyalists before the end of the Revolution.
