In Gedenken an die verstorbenen Häftlinge im KZ Mauthausen wurde diese Gedenktafeln aufgehängt. Im Krematorium befinden sich an der Wand viele verschiedene Gedenktafeln als Andenken an die verstorbenen Häftlinge des KZ Mauthausen.
Das Konzentrationslager Mauthausen war das größte Konzentrationslager der Nationalsozialisten auf dem Gebiet Österreichs, der damaligen Donau- und Alpenreichsgaue. Es befand sich 20 Kilometer östlich von Linz in Mauthausen und bestand vom 8. August 1938 bis zu seiner Auflösung nach der Befreiung seiner Insassen durch US-amerikanische Truppen am 5. Mai 1945. Im KZ Mauthausen und seinen Nebenlagern sind rund 100.000 Menschen ums Leben gekommen. Auf dem Gelände des ehemaligen Konzentrationslagers befindet sich seit 1947 eine Mahn- und Gedenkstätte der Republik Österreich.

The Mauthausen concentration camp was the largest concentration camp by the Nazis on the territory of Austria, the former Danube and Alpenreichsgaue.
