In Gedenken an die verstorbenen Juden aus der DDR im KZ Mauthausen wurde dieses Denkmal errichtet.
Es besteht aus einer großen Steinmauer und einer Statue aus Bronze. Dieses Denkmal steht am Rand des Steinbruches in der Nähe der Todesstiege.
Das sogenannte DDR-Denkmal, das im Auftrag des Komitees der Antifaschistischen Widerstandskämpfer errichtet wurde, ist am 5. Mai 1967 eingeweiht worden.

Das Konzentrationslager Mauthausen war das größte Konzentrationslager der Nationalsozialisten auf dem Gebiet Österreichs, der damaligen Donau- und Alpenreichsgaue. Es befand sich 20 Kilometer östlich von Linz in Mauthausen und bestand vom 8. August 1938 bis zu seiner Auflösung nach der Befreiung seiner Insassen durch US-amerikanische Truppen am 5. Mai 1945. Im KZ Mauthausen und seinen Nebenlagern sind rund 100.000 Menschen ums Leben gekommen. Auf dem Gelände des ehemaligen Konzentrationslagers befindet sich seit 1947 eine Mahn- und Gedenkstätte der Republik Österreich.

In memory of the deceased Jews from the German Democratic Republic in Mauthausen this monument was erected.
It consists of a large stone wall and a statue of bronze. This monument stands at the edge of the quarry near the Stairs of Death.
The so-called DDR monument that was built by order of the Committee of Anti-Fascist resistance fighter, was inaugurated on May 5, 1967.

The Mauthausen concentration camp was the largest concentration camp by the Nazis on the territory of Austria, the former Danube and Alpenreichsgaue. It was located 20 kilometers east of Linz in Mauthausen and consisted of 8 August 1938 until its dissolution after the liberation of its inmates by US troops on May 5, 1945. In Mauthausen and its satellite camps around 100,000 people have died , On the grounds of the former concentration camp is located since 1947 a memorial of the Republic of Austria.
