Huatulco has become a major tourist development in Mexico. It is located on the Pacific Ocean coast in the state of Oaxaca. Huatulco is noted for the beauty of the nine bays that make up its shoreline and the nearby town of La Crucecita. Luxury resorts line the shoreline and it is becoming a destination for cruise ships. The cruise ship pier is located on one of the smallest of the nine bays, Santa Cruz Bay.

Visitors disembarking from cruise ships must walk by this 12' high Danforth type anchor and welcome sign, located in an area filled with landscaping stones, to reach the facilities that await them on Santa Cruz Bay. Of course, almost everyone stops to have their picture taken at this spot.
