After the acquisition of "Vereinigte Schellenberger und Steeler Glashütten Wisthoff & Co" Friedrich Ignaz Wisthoff built this house, at the beginning of the 19th century, as home for his family.
Glashütte Wisthoff is believed to be the oldest industrial company in Essen.
The building was in use as a business location until 1970.
