Das Konzentrationslager Mauthausen war das größte Konzentrationslager der Nationalsozialisten in den damaligen Donau- und Alpenreichsgauen, dem heutigen Österreich. Es befand sich in Mauthausen, 15 Kilometer östlich von Linz, und existierte vom 8. August 1938 bis zu seiner Befreiung durch US-amerikanische Truppen am 5. Mai 1945. Im Konzentrationslager Mauthausen waren zwischen 1938 und 1945 mehr als 200.000 Personen aus ganz Europa inhaftiert, etwa die Hälfte wurde dort ermordet. Die KZ-Gedenkstätte Mauthausen hält die Erinnerung an diese Periode der österreichischen Geschichte wach und gedenkt ihrer Opfer.
Hier gibt es verschiedene Ausstellungen und Denkmäler die an diese Zeit erinnern.

The Mauthausen concentration camp was the largest concentration camp by the Nazis in the former Danube and Alpenreichsgauen, today's Austria. It was in Mauthausen, 15 kilometers east of Linz, and existed of 8 August 1938 until its liberation by US troops on May 5, 1945. In the Mauthausen concentration camp between 1938 and 1945 more than 200,000 people from all over Europe were imprisoned about half was murdered. The concentration camp Mauthausen Memorial keeps alive the memory of this period of Austrian history and remember their sacrifice.
There are various exhibitions and monuments reminiscent of that time.
