Friedenskirche is situated in Bernestraße 1, in the centre of the city of Essen. The church was built from 1914 to 1916 by the architect Albert Erbe (* 9. September 1868 in Weilburg; † 29. Mai 1922 in Essen).
They say that Friedenskirche - in the original state - was the most significant Jugenstil church in Germany.

The clock is mounted in the northern facade of the bell tower.
The Roman numbers and the hands of the clock are of golden colour.
