Victoria Park covers an entire city block in downtown Hamilton just behind City Hall. In 1899 iron bandstand formerly hosted regimental band concerts by the various military units here in Bermuda.
Near that stand, where their fellow soldiers played concerts for the citizens, behind a decorative chain, stands a red granite obelisk with three plaques on it, commemorating the men of the Bermuda Volunteer Rifle Corps who laid down their lives in World War I and World War II.
The memorial reads as follows:
"North side:
To The Glorious Members of
The Bermuda Volunteer Rifle Corps
Who Fell in the Great War 1914-1918
[list of names]
West side:
[carved regimental crest]
South side:

They Gave The Most That Man Can Give -- Life Itself. For God, For King, And Country.
