Dit is weer zo'n Overyssel-Bentheim-grenssteen. Volgens Brouwer (Grenspalen in Nederland, 1987) en Bieze (De grens bepaald, 1992) zijn ze in 1778 geplaatst in de gemeente Denekamp om een langdurige reeks van grensconflicten te beslechten. Ze hebben een nummering van 1 tot 11, deze draagt nr. 5.
De letters H en N werden in 1824 aangebracht toen het Koninkrijk Hannover gesticht werd.
