The Warriors Chapel at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity in Hamilton is a place of deep reverence and respect for the contributions of the men and women of Bermuda who have served or who have died for freedom in wartime and peacetime. This memorial plaque is one of several in this chapel.
The plaque reads as follows:
"BERMUDA MILITIA INFANTRY
1939-1946
The Bermuda Militia Infantry was raised in 1939 as an affiliate of the Bermuda Militia Artillery. It's primary purpose was to provide ground defence during the Second World War of 1939 – 1945 for the batteries of the artillery unit. Two companies provided the defence and also protected vital installations throughout Bermuda. In February 1944 the two units of the militia supplied a contingent of 120 men for overseas service, and it was affiliated to the Caribbean Regiment. These men served with distinction in Italy and Egypt. The Bermuda Militia Infantry stood down in 1946."
