This memorial was created by volunteer firefighters to the side of the Plains Fire Station at Fifth Avenue South and First Street.

Though Plains isn't a tiny town, we nonetheless thought this to be a pretty impressive 911 Memorial for a small town. It was dedicated on September 11, 2011 in memory of the firefighters who lost their lives during the 911 terrorist attacks. The memorial was created and dedicated by the Plains Volunteer Fire Department.
The memorial consists of a granite plaque affixed to a large boulder, atop which stands a life sized bronze of a uniformed firefighter. Behind them is a flagpole and flag, while in front are a pair of benches facing the memorial. The whole is set on a concrete pad with planters surrounding the boulder.
The plaque at the memorial reads as follows:
