Next Saturday, October 1, Lisbon will be more colorful with the inauguration of the Japanese Garden in Belém, near the Museum of Popular Art!
The Japanese Garden was created in September 2004, when the Japanese Embassy began the 461 cherry trees plantation on site to celebrate the friendship between the two countries. However, for various reasons, the cherry trees did not grow and the space was abandoned. Since then, the Lisbon nicknamed the local "Pseudo-Japanese Garden" due to the presence of nothing more than a dry pitch.
Recently, the space has been restored and the result can be seen on 1 October. The event will also be subject to the achievement of Japan's Party, which will follow after the reopening to 12pm, extending up to 21h.

No entanto, por motivos vários, as cerejeiras não vingaram e o espaço ficou ao abandono. Desde essa data, os lisboetas apelidavam o local de “Pseudo-Jardim Japonês” devido à presença de nada mais que um relvado seco.Recentemente o espaço tem sido reabilitado e o resultado poderá ser visto no dia 1 de Outubro. O evento será também motivo para a realização da Festa do Japão, que seguirá após a reabertura às 12h, estendendo-se até às 21h.
