As described by the National Geodetic Survey in 1978 (and its subsequent update in 2005):
"1.2 MI SE FROM WALLER.
1.2 MILES SOUTHEAST ALONG U.S. HIGHWAY 290 FROM THE JUNCTION OF ALLIANCE STREET AND U.S. HIGHWAY 290 IN WALLER. SET ON THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE INTERSECTION OF U.S. HIGHWAY 290 AND MATHIS ROAD, 56 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF THE EAST BOUND LANES OF HIGHWAY 290, 46.5 FEET WEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF MATHIS ROAD, 26 FEET NORTHEAST OF THE NORTHEAST RAIL, AND 1.5 FEET WEST OF A POWER POLE. DISK IS SET LEVEL WITH THE GROUND, ACCESS TO WHICH IS TO BE HAD THROUGH A 4 INCH SCREW PLUG.
(2005) RECOVERY NOTE BY GEOCACHING -- 1.5 FEET NORTHWEST OF POWER POLE STUMP, 1 FOOT SOUTHEAST OF WITNESS POST."
The NGS description and associated reference points (i.e. distances/directions) are a good starting point for locating this station, however please note the following updates (as of the last recovery by a fellow geocacher back in 2007):
* US Hwy 290 has moved further up North, the referenced highway is now called "Old Hempstead Hwy", or "US Hwy BUS-290".
* The distance to the junction with Alliance St is actually closer to 1.27 miles (not 1.2 miles).
* The nearby power pole stump is no longer there.
* The 4" screw plug is missing.
* The witness post is still there but has been severely compromised.

The most recently posted NGS Data Sheet's coordinates seemed to match perfectly with my own personal observations: it states "N 30 03 03.06 W 095 54 31.56", which was in line with my findings as measured with 10' accuracy and 10+ reading averages: "N 30° 03.051 W 095° 54.526".
