Cut benchmark and 1GL bolt on St Mary at the Elms church.
"This bench mark was used during the First primary levelling, England & Wales, and was levelled with a height of 27.9720 feet [8.5259 metres] above mean sea level (Liverpool datum). It was included as a side level on the London to Doncaster levelling line. The surveyor's description was No. 292(a). St. Mary Elms Church. Bolt in South-west angle ; 2.24 ft. above surface (p258)."

"The church has a Norman south doorway. The nave and north aisle are perpendicular gothic. The north chapel and chancel date from 1883.
It is a high Anglican Church and affiliated to Forward in Faith. It houses the statue of Our Lady of Ipswich. which is a copy of a statue in Nettuno that was originally in Ipswich"
