The former hospital was used between 1930 and 1965 when a new facility was opened. . In 1971, the Wongan Ballidu Museum/Historical Society took over the premises, which was opened on 14 April 1972,by the Minister for Local Government, Claude Stubbs,
Inside the various rooms (wards) have been recreated to show what they may have looked like 60 to 80 years ago, including a maternity, dental and operating room. other rooms show the history of the area through photos and displays as well as photographs of the Cadoux earthquake and lots of memorabilia dating from the early days of settlement in the area.
Outside at the rear is an area of machinery , including a traction engine and a stuart tank ( many of which were bought as sutplus after WW2 and with the barrel removed were used to clear the surrounding farms of scrub and also used as a tractor for ploughing.
