AW6984 - BROOKSHIRE MUNICIPAL TANK - Brookshire, TX - U.S. Benchmarks on Waymarking.com

As described by the Coast and Geodetic Survey ("CGS") in 1952:

"THE STATION IS LOCATED NEAR THE NORTH-CENTRAL PART OF BROOKSHIRE ON CITY PROPERTY. IT IS A FOUR LEGGED STEEL STRUCTURE SUPPORTING THE TANK PROPER, HAS A DOME SHAPED ROOF WITH A BALL AND RED LIGHT AT THE APEX AND AN OVER-ALL HEIGHT OF 135.0 FEET. IT IS ONE BLOCK SOUTH OF U.S. HIGHWAY NO. 90 AND ONE BLOCK WEST OF FARM ROAD NO. 359 IN THE SOUTHEAST ANGLE OF A STREET INTERSECTION.

THE POINT OBSERVED UPON WAS THE BALL AT THE APEX OF THE ROOF."

The CGS description is pretty accurate, and so are the most recent associated NGS Data Sheet's coordinates. This benchmark is actually hard to miss when in the general vicinity, as long as you don't get TOO close to the tank in question (so that you can still spot the reference point in question, i.e. the ball at the apex of the tank's roof).
