Riverpole was the inspiration of artist/sculptor Vaughn Warren, standing 24 feet tall with a diameter at the base of 36 inches. It was an ART (Assistance for Respiratory Treatment) International Project. Riverpole was mounted on the corner of Summit Drive and Columbia Street West in about 2003.

ARTIST STATEMENT
My respect and wonderment of the natural environment we all share in the Thompson River Valley inspired the Riverpole. The River is the backbone of an endless, flowing cycle of physical and spiritual energy and has shaped my artistic vision. The animals depicted (Raven, Sheep, Bear, Fish, Beaver and Frog) are all readily identifiable locally.

The Riverpole's monumental nature mirrors the vast horizon of natural beauty we all enjoy and encourages an increased respect of our land and its occupants. It is my hope that this art inspires other creative spirits to pursue their own visions and dreams to the betterment of themselves and their community.

The sculptor visited the waymark and left the following comment:
I carved this as a fund-raiser in 2001/2002. The City of Kamloops has me wash it and restain it every 5 years, as the corner it is on is rather busy and dusty. See more of my work here.
