Kostel sv. Nicholas in Horni Branna is the oldest in the entire foothills. Its history is very rich. Under the administration Branna parish belonged to all the surrounding villages.

The church was originally made of wood. During the Hussite wars rectory was burned and the church was destroyed. When Wilhelm von Wallenstein relocated from the castle Štepanice in Lomnice nad Pop., was again restored Branná rectory and was also built a new church, this time in stone. It was in the year 1557. A new church was not large. In place of the existing wooden belfry was r. 1700 built a stone church tower,
