This is another example for the design of "Backsteinexpressionismus", created by the architect Josef Franke (* 12. März 1876 in Wattenscheid; † 16. Januar 1944 in Gelsenkirchen).
In the 1920th he built several churches and other buildings in this style specially in Gelsenkirchen:
"1924–1925: Wohnhaus für den Maler Andreas Wilhelm Ballin in Bulmke-Hüllen, Elisenstraße
1924–1926: Hl. Dreifaltigkeit im Haverkamp, Magdalenenstraße 47
1925–1926: Straßenbahndepot der Bochum-Gelsenkirchener Straßenbahnen in Gelsenkirchen-Mitte, Hauptstraße 55–59
1927–1929: kath. Kiche Heilig-Kreuz mit Wohn- und Geschäftshaus in Ückendorf, Bochumer Straße."
