This memorial to well known radio personality and civic booster Patrick Nicol was mounted in Polson Park in 2014. Well liked where ever he went, Patrick worked at several radio stations before finally landing in Vernon. Patrick left behind a host of friends and admirers, as can be seen by reading the comments at His Obituary.

Patrick's memorial can be found just west of the running track near the north centre of the park.
Patrick David Nicol
July 13, 1949 - January 15, 2014

Patrick was an innovative radio broadcaster, a dedicated public servant and community volunteer, and a passionate humanitarian and naturalist. Born in Brandon, Manitoba, he moved to Vernon in 1977 and became an integral part of the community. Patrick loved Vernon and the North Okanagan and diligently promoted and supported arts, culture, sports and other civic activities. He served on Vernon Council for 22 years and delighted in responding professionally and personally to help build a better community. Patrick was a key organizer of the Canada Day celebrations in Polson Park and served as president of the BC Canada Day committee for 12 years. Partick was honoured to receive the Order of Jopo, the Queen's Jubilee Award and the Vernon Distinguished Citizen Award in 2006. Citizens of Vernon, young and old, called Patrick their friend.
