Polson Park's skatepark was a project of the Vernon Rotary Club. The Rotary sign at the skatepark (etched into a large stone/boulder) indicates that the park was constructed in 1999. The skatepark is in the northeast corner of the park, at the intersection of Highway 6 and 25th avenue. All concrete, it is a fair sized park with lots of obstacles, but nothing really advanced. We noticed that the kids have posted a lot of "artwork" in the skatepark.

The largest and probably the oldest park in the city, Polson Park has lots to offer, including lawn bowling and mega chess. There is lots of manicured lawn, many large and mature trees for shade and several gardens sprinkled about. As well, the Vernon Science Centre is part of the park.
Polson Park

Polson Park is located near the heart of Vernon, adjacent to Highway 97 and Highway 6. The park was established in 1908 when Samuel Polson donated a large parcel of land to the city. Located in the park is the Lawn Bowling Club, the Interior Space and Science Centre, the Arts Council and Vernon Heritage Hall.

Polson Park is probably best known for the Floral Clock that was installed in 1958. The date is changed daily and it provides a great photo with its colourful background. Further into the park you will find the Japanese Garden, which was donated by the Japanese Community and the Chinese Pagoda, which was donated by the Chinese Community. Both were constructed in 1967 as Centennial Projects. The Rose Garden, a perennial favourite and also a Centennial project, is located in the south east of the park. Specific areas of the park can be reserved for your special event such as weddings, social gatherings and concerts. Call 250-545-6035 to book. There are two ponds in the park which support an abundance of waterfowl.

Polson Park offers lots to do and see for both residents and visitors to our community.
